Import builds the book for you
Bring in a manuscript as DOCX, EPUB, PDF, Markdown, or plain text. Medrak detects the chapters and shows a review screen before anything is created: rename chapters, merge or split them, or rebuild the boundaries from the book's own table of contents. Confirm, and each chapter becomes a full recording session inside one book workspace, with a chapter rail to move between them.
Prep the read before you say a word
Every chapter opens in a prep read-through: a clean pass over the text where you fix OCR hiccups, drop bracketed director notes like [pause] between lines, split a long line where one voice ends, or split a chapter that the importer got wrong. Prep is also where the cast takes shape.
Characters find themselves
The moment a book opens, Medrak reads the whole manuscript and attributes the dialogue: every speaker it can identify gets a color, consistent across all chapters, and the narration keeps its own place in the cast. The detector is a first pass, not the boss: right-click any line to cast it yourself, merge duplicate characters, or add new ones. A pronunciation panel collects the odd words, invented names, and fantasy places, lets you write a respelling, and even records you saying it right so future sessions can hear the reference.
Export the whole book
When the takes are in, export at the book level: separate WAV clips per line, one continuous WAV with an SRT sidecar per chapter, or per-narrator stems if the book was recorded as a collaboration.
